Kub Kar and Winter Camp update

Note: Tuesday night is bring a friend night. If Cubs bring a friend, they are eligible for a $5 gift certificate at Scout House. Cubs and (probably parents too), have been working intensely on their Kub Kars, sanding and painting the cut blocks. Tuesday night we’ll be putting the wheels on the kars, adding the weights if needed and testing them on a track. Ideally the Kars should be painted and decorated before the wheels go on but if not we’ll have some sandpaper and paint to finish them. Scouts too will be working on their Scout Trucks. The first rule of Kub Kars is to have fun. There are other “unofficial rules” to ensure a level playing field, a key one being weight (5 ounces or 142 grams). We will have a scale on hand on Tuesday. This Saturday (January 26th) the Cubs are going to the Squamish Kub Kar rally. Here is little description provided the Squamish Scouts:
Come one, come all for our Kub Kar Rally! Former Cubs are welcome to join us as well with their old Kub Kars. See you all there! Entry fee for each Kub Kar is $5.00. There will be prizes for the top three finishers as well as a prize for best design. We will also have a concession stand, with pizza, juice boxes, and baked goods for sale.
Also this Tuesday we’ll be preparing for the Winter Camp. Cubs have been asked to bring the backpack, sleeping bag and sleeping pad they are taking to the camp. The leaders want to be sure the Cubs are prepared with the right gear. We will also go over tips on what to bring and how to pack your gear. Here are a couple of sources if you need to purchase some equipment: Mountain Equipment Co-op (two locations, North Vancouver and on Broadway) Three Vets Canadian Tire
