April 14/12 Science World Campout Eleven cubs and three parents had a great overnight adventure at Science World, we weren’t alone though, there were over 250 other cubs from around the Lower Mainland. But the 16th West Vancouver, Bowen Island did get special mention in the opening introduction, for being the only Pack to come from an island. After watching a great film about the Space Shuttle crew repairing the Hubble Telescope in the Omnimax Theatre, we were free to explore the exhibits. The Lego section and Water Room were the cubs favourite. We were assigned to sleep in the Natural World exhibit, home of the snakes, spiders, and insects, hopefully asleep and secure in their glass aquariums. We laid out our sleeping bags around the fake cedar tree with a dinosaur skeleton staring at us from across the room. Lights went out at 11:30 and the cubs went to sleep, most of them anyway. After breakfast, there was a science demo, Berdon’s enthusiasm caught the attention of the presenter and he was selected to pull the lever in the water bottle rocket launch. Thanks to parents, Vik, Michael and Frank for helping out. David Jones, Cub leader

The Bowen Beavers and Cubs enjoyed a tour of Rogers Arena today. Special thanks to Sean’s father Riaan for making it happen and to our tour guide Carolyn for the wonderful tour of the facility. We saw a great deal of the arena including the VIP boxes, lounges, ice level player boxes and even had a chance to watch some Vancouver Canucks practice and met Mason Raymond outside of the dressing rooms! Rogers Arena is a top notch facility and we were very fortunate to see and learn so much about it today. Now if we could just talk Carolyn into some free tickets …………..

Congratulations to all of the Bowen Cubs who attended the 2012 Kub Kar Rally at Capilano mall this past Saturday! It looks like everyone had a great time – there were so many well built Kub Kars it’s great to have some Bowen cars in the mix! Cubs and Beavers also had fun with some “in-house” Beaver Buggy and Kub Kar racing at last weeks Wednesday meetings – everyone did an excellent job with building and decorating the race cars!
