Scouts Canada has confirmed our tree planting location for this Saturday’s Scoutrees event! This year we will be planting in the Grouse Woods area of North Vancouver (Malaspina Place). – see map below. As mentioned in our previous post we would like to go over as a group if possible, however if you need to meet us on site or would just like to know where on earth we’re going – directions are: To get there – go up Capilano Road which becomes Nancy Greene Way – then right on Prospect Ave. – first left here onto Cliffridge Drive (street sign may indicate Sonora Dr.)  Go almost to the end of Cliffridge and turn left onto Molina Road.  Find parking from here on.  Malaspina Place is a right turn off Molina.  We will meet at the very end of Malaspina Place. We hope everyone can make it out to support such an important cause!

The Bowen Island Beavers enjoyed a well presented ceremony hosted by Rainbow Joy from the 13th Seymour North Vancouver Beavers Colony as well as our friend Bubbles of the North Shore Area Scouting Council. Congratulations are in order for all Bowen Beavers who were able to attend tonights ceremony and are now officially Invested Bowen Island Beaver Scouts of the 16th West Vancouver Colony! We sang some great new songs, the Beavers worked together and acted out some wonderful skits and we had a fantstic campfire. Thanks to all of the parents who were able to attend and participate, it was lots of fun! The newly Invested Beavers recited the Beavers law and promise and received their scarves and badges. They learned the scouting stages (Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Venture etc.) and gained a better understanding of what was in store for them along the way. We hope that in the future we might be able to invite Rainbow Joy’s 13th Symour North Vancouver Beaver Scout colony to Bowen Island for a group activity – it would be great to make some new friends along the way! Rainbow Joy certainly has a few badges on her campfire blanket! Thanks again to … Continue Reading →

The Beavers represented Bowen Island and joined the larger Scouting community to celebrate 100 years of Scouting at the 2011 Torchlight Parade at Lower Lonsdale Saturday evening. The parade began at the cenotaph at Victoria Park and marched down Lonsdale to Ship Builder’s Square where Beavers were treated to a campfire, sing along, s’mores, hot chocolate, lots of crafts and much more! The weather was fantastic and congratulations to our friend Bubbles for a fine opening ceremony speech. There were many food donations dropped off to support local charities. Many thanks to all of the Beavers and their families who attended the event!
