April 14/12 Science World Campout
Eleven cubs and three parents had a great overnight adventure at Science World, we weren’t alone though, there were over 250 other cubs from around the Lower Mainland. But the 16th West Vancouver, Bowen Island did get special mention in the opening introduction, for being the only Pack to come from an island.
After watching a great film about the Space Shuttle crew repairing the Hubble Telescope in the Omnimax Theatre, we were free to explore the exhibits. The Lego section and Water Room were the cubs favourite.
We were assigned to sleep in the Natural World exhibit, home of the snakes, spiders, and insects, hopefully asleep and secure in their glass aquariums. We laid out our sleeping bags around the fake cedar tree with a dinosaur skeleton staring at us from across the room. Lights went out at 11:30 and the cubs went to sleep, most of them anyway.
After breakfast, there was a science demo, Berdon’s enthusiasm caught the attention of the presenter and he was selected to pull the lever in the water bottle rocket launch. Thanks to parents, Vik, Michael and Frank for helping out.
