Kub Kar Rally

Hello Everyone, Just a reminder that all Cubs should bring their decorated Kub Kars to the meeting tomorrow night. We will be completing them at the meeting and doing a friendly in-house rally. The track will be set up inside the school. On Saturday Feb 11^th is the official Kub Kar Rally at Capilano Mall. Details below. Please organize amongst yourselves if you will be attending the Rally. This is a big deal for most groups. Pictures from last year’s Beaver Buggy Event can be seen here. It is also Bring a Friend night. If you bring a friend please make sure you tell Leslie so she can let Scout House know in order for you to receive your $5 Scout House Coupon. • An entry fee of $5.00 will be charged per car.
• Each Cub may only enter one Kar.
• A participant badge will be presented to all entrants.
• All Kars MUST have the Cub’s name, phone number, and group (ie: “1st West Van”) on the bottom.
• All Cubs and Leaders in attendance MUST be in full uniform.
• A leader or parent may enter Kars for any Cubs who are unable to attend.
• Once registered, no one except for race officials will be allowed to handle the Kars.

 Rules

• All Kars entered MUST have been made in 2012 from an official Kub Kar kit.
• All rules and specifications included with the current Kub Kar kits must be observed.  All wheels must be from official kits and must not be altered except to remove rough-casting marks.  V shaped wheels will not be accepted.
• Any Kar with a forked front will have tape applied to the nose so that all Kars start the same distance from the finish line.
• There will be two categories – Racing and Modeling.
• All Kars eliminated from heats up to the semi-finals will be eligible for the model category.  The model awards are for funniest, unique, classic, and judge’s choice.  Cars will be judged based on detail, originality, and the appearance of Cub involvement.
• This is intended as a project for Cubs with some adult assistance, NOT as an adult project.  We recommend about 80% Cub effort.
• Trophies will be awarded to the fastest cars (top 6), and to the top car in each model category.
• No Kar may win two awards.
• The top 6 Kars in the racing category and all model award winners will be eligible for the Pacific Coast Council Kub Kar Rally, April 15, 2012 .
• In all cases regarding the eligibility of Kars, the judge’s decision will be final.
