As some of you may know we have been planning a trip to the mainland to go to ‘The Edge’ and do some indoor rock climbing. For those of you who are not familiar with The Edge it is one of Canada’s premier training sites for youth climbers, having trained a number of youth champions for climbing competitions. Additionally, a number of truly world-class outdoor rock climbers started and/or train there, so the focus is on safety and fun, and their staff are highly trained. Safety is always priority number one.  For more info, please visit their website at http://www.edgeclimbing.com/index.cfm.
The date has been set for April 16th between 12:30-2:00pm at the Edge Climbing Centre in North Vancouver. We would be leaving as a group on the 11:30 ferry and returning on the 3:30pm ferry home. We will all meet at the library at 11:10am. The cost per child will be $15. The remaining amount has been subsidized by the group. Please send a lunch and snack along with the Beavers (we’ll eat lunch on the ferry on the way over). Please pickup the Beavers at the Library at 3:50pm.
We will be traveling by car so any parents wishing to volunteer their time and perhaps a vehicle, please let me know (all ferry costs will be covered). Parents are welcome to climb as well!
All Beavers will need to have a General Outing Waiver signed for the outing, but since The Edge is an approved Scouts Canada venue, an Edge Waiver will not be necessary. Any parents wishing to come along and climb will need to sign an Edge Waiver. In order to organize children and vehicles please hand in your consent form, along with payment, to me by this Wednesday April 13th.
Hope to see everyone there and happy climbing!Like this:
